Video: Child Abuses a Cat… BSPCA Vows Legal Action A disturbing video showing a young boy abusing a small cat in a residential building in Al-Hidd, Muharraq Governorate, has sparked a wave of outrage across Bahraini social media platforms. The incident triggered public calls demanding accountability and firm legal action against the perpetrator. The footage, which documented scenes of violence and cruelty toward the animal, prompted the Bahrain Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BSPCA) to act swiftly by filing an official report with the relevant security authorities, calling for a comprehensive investigation and the application of appropriate penalties. In response, Mahmood Faraj, Chairman of the BSPCA, urged the relevant official entities to promptly take the necessary legal action against the offender. This comes after a video circulated showing the boy viciously abusing a small cat inside a residential complex in Muharraq. The painful footage shows the boy repeatedly hurling the cat against a wall, a scene that shocked and angered many social media users—particularly animal rights advocates—who expressed their sorrow and condemned the boy’s violent behavior, which stands in complete opposition to values of mercy and humanity. In a phone call with Al-Bilad newspaper, Faraj emphasized that the act represents a blatant violation of ethical, religious, and humanitarian principles. He stressed the need for strong legal deterrents against anyone who abuses animals, regardless of age, to prevent such crimes from recurring. He also highlighted the importance of spreading awareness in society about animal welfare, and fostering a culture of kindness and compassion toward living creatures. Faraj warned that silence or tolerance toward such actions may open the door to further violations and a disregard for human values. The BSPCA has officially submitted a report today to the police station in Muharraq Governorate, demanding an urgent investigation into the incident and an inquiry to identify the boy who appeared in the video abusing the cat, in preparation for taking appropriate legal action.
