His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, may God protect him, will sponsor the International Conference and Exhibition for People of Determination on September 13-14, in a strategic partnership with the Royal Institution for Humanitarian Works. Children of determination are students, their parents, specialists, experts and consultants in the categories of people of determination, and all parties concerned with supporting them and providing the necessary tools and services to facilitate their lives.
The patronage of His Highness Sheikh Nasser, may God preserve him, for this conference stems from His Highness’s interest in various members of society in general, and people of determination in particular, because of the great role of these groups in strengthening the cohesion of society and providing it with various human cadres, despite some of the suffering they are going through.
This conference is organized by the National Association to Support Education and Training, and managed by Origin, the leading group in organizing conferences and specialized events in the Gulf region, in exchange for a memorandum of cooperation between the two sides in implementing important and distinguished activities aimed at developing national human cadres, including school and university students, to support their qualification and engagement. actively in the labor market.
This international conference and exhibition aims to provide advice and guidance to groups of people of determination, particularly children and their parents, especially in light of this pandemic, and to protect them from its repercussions. It also aims to promote the rights of these children and achieve their well-being in all societal and developmental fields, and to raise awareness of their condition in various aspects of life.
The conference targets children of determination in the following categories: learning difficulties, slow learning, autism spectrum disorders, audio, visual and physical disabilities, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, communication disorders (speech problems, voice and speech disorders), simple intellectual disability, academic delays and underachievement, Down syndrome, and all gifted people of determination.
According to a statistic carried out in 2019 in the Kingdom of Bahrain, it was found that there are more than 10,800 people with various disabilities, and they have been called People of Determination, for their ability to overcome the burdens of life and their high will to challenge it. Globally, the World Health Organization and the World Bank have estimated, through statistics and studies, that the number of people of determination reaches 150 million in various countries of the world. The United Nations, through its sustainable development goals, has been keen to include these categories in the global development process by 2030.
The conference will include, during its two days, various sessions and working papers that shed light on the various categories of people of determination and the latest findings of modern science and technology in supporting, rehabilitating and treating these groups, a panel discussion for a group of experts, specialists and doctors, a dialogue session between two generations that brings together children and young people of determination. Parents of children of determination, and experts and specialists in the fields of people of determination.
It is worth noting that the conference will be accompanied by a specialized exhibition in which a number of exhibitors from inside and outside Bahrain will participate, including clinics for people of determination, pharmacies and institutions providing tools related to people of determination, offices of specialists, consultants and educators in the field of different categories of people of determination, schools and centers specialized in people of determination, and others. From the concerned authorities in these categories from the public and private sectors. This will also be accompanied by a mini-exhibition of medical, scientific and academic books and references related to groups of people of determination that can be viewed during the days of the conference and exhibition.
