As a multi-cultural society in the Kingdom, charities and locals are all set to help those who are less fortunate, or are in need this Ramadan.
Ramadan comes around to remind people of the Islamic morals and ethics as they celebrate this month by also spreading joy to the needy.
Every year locals collect and distribute dry non-perishable food items to needy Muslim families and individuals, both local and expat. Speaking to The Daily Tribune, Khalil Al Dailami, and Board Chairman of Tree of life Charity, said: “Every year, the staff and volunteers plan
the complete Ramadan schedule. They would distribute gift packages, and every week we planned to invite a certain number of needy families, orphans, and their relatives to the iftar table. “In addition to this, we welcome people to parks throughout Ramadan where a variety of events are held, such as readings from the holy Qur’an, competitions for poetry and painting, and henna for girls.” He added that food waste during the holy month can be a serious issue, and that’s why many local charity institutions would make daily trips during Ramadan to different restaurants and hotels to collect leftovers and distribute them finely and neatly to prevent food waste. Lina Stahl, volunteer and owner of ‘Box Forward’, said: “This Ramadan we are encouraging our Instagram followers and group members to donate more than ever and especially when it comes to food items and baby items such as diapers that seems to be in big demand from needy families. “Our aim will always be to offer a platform to help those in need who are struggling at this time of the year. Donations of food items will be collected from 15th March to 20th April 2023.” Miro Dole, owner of ‘A box of Goodness’, said: “We are collecting food donations and repackaging them to suit individual families observing the fast. “Food items such as rice, dates, flour, dhal, green gram
chickpeas, oil, hareesh, jereesh, sago, spices, pasta, noodles sugar, milk powder, tea, coffee, ghee, coconut milk powder, tomato paste, jelly, custard or canned foods. “We appeal to the public to donate to help sustain the needy during this holy month.
